The Energy division's interests comprise four gas businesses, a power generation business. The businesses include Coregas and a 40 per cent interest in Air Liquide WA (industrial and medical gases), Wesfarmers LPG (LPG production and export), Kleenheat Gas (LPG and LNG distribution and marketing) and enGen (power generation for remote towns and resource projects).

Wesfarmers Energy's objective is to grow value through its business with essential products.


Coregas

Coregas

Coregas is the largest Australian-owned industrial, medical and specialty gas company. It produces a range of gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon and hydrogen. With a wide network of supply agents and distributors, Coregas produces air gases at a major air separation unit in Port Kembla, NSW, as well as a state-of-the-art specialty gas laboratory in Yennora, New South Wales.

Coregas services markets in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia through a wide network of agents and distributors.

Wesfarmers LPG

Wesfarmers LPG owns and operates a plant in Kwinana, Western Australia, which extracts propane and butane from the natural gas stream flowing from Western Australia’s North-West Shelf gas fields via the Dampier to Bunbury pipeline. Wesfarmers LPG supplies much of Western Australia’s domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market, with the balance exported to Japan. The extraction plant has the capacity to produce 350,000 tonnes of LPG per annum.

A new 175 tpd domestic LNG plant has been developed at Wesfarmers LPG site at Kwinana which supplies the domestic market.

Kleenheat Gas

Kleenheat is a major distributor and marketer of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and gas appliances to a broad range of domestic, commercial, autogas and industrial customers. Kleenheat operates through an extensive Australia-wide network of depots, company-owned branches, dealers, agents and franchisees. Other activities include market development, retailing and distribution of LNG as a replacement for diesel fuel in heavy duty vehicles, remote power generation and industrial applications.

enGen

enGen (Energy Generation) is a leading independent power producer based in Canning Vale, Western Australia. It specialises in the supply of electricity for remote resource operations and regional towns which are not serviced by a major distribution grid.

The company specialises in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of both company-owned and customer-owned diesel or gas fuelled power stations.
